Eligibility

Applicants must be an undergraduate student and a US Citizen/Permanent Resident attending one of the three (3) following U.S. partner institutions:

  • Louisiana State University
  • Northwestern University
  • University of Florida

Graduate students meeting above eligibility will be considered; however, preference will be given to undergraduates.

When to apply

  • The application period for Summer 2020 is closed.
  • Stay tuned for the Summer 2021 announcement, which will be up in October 2020.
  • Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

All materials, including recommendation letter(s), must be received by this date. Applications and letters received after this date will not be reviewed. All materials must be received by this date. Applications will be screened for web-based interviews with potential host lab advisers. Selected students will be notified by early February.

  • statement of research interests
    • The 2-page personal statement should include:
      1. Why are you interested in participating in IRiKA?
      2. What specific research area you are interested in and why?
      3. An explanation of any relevant work or class experiences
      4. Your career objectives.
  • unofficial or official academic transcripts

In addition, up to two (2) recommendation letters should be sent by the letter writer directly to nsf.irika@gmail.com.
